Weir Oil and Gas needed a less cumbersome way to identify large equipment and retrieve inspection information when assets were distributed across service centers and customer locations.
RFID tags were attached to equipment and iron. A handheld check could identify the asset and support retrieval of its inspection certificate without requiring an operator to read an exposed serial number and search for a paper or computer record.
