Include media, encoding, readers, antennas, mounting, network, application work, integration, training, support and replacement effort. A device-only shortlist hides the operating decision.

Set an acceptance target
Define what counts as a useful result: read coverage, event correctness, operator time, exception handling, system posting and recovery. Measure it with representative samples.
06 / FIELD NOTE
Record and retest the choice
Keep the candidates, tested conditions, configuration, observations, rejected cases and acceptance decision together. Re-test when the item, site, workflow or system boundary changes.
